Serenity Hill Cabin is a 2BR/2BA, 1,440 SQ. FOOT, LUXURY CABIN on
Tranquility Trail in Paradise Landing Resort on Douglas Lake.
It's on the outskirts of historic Dandridge (named after Martha
Dandridge-Washington, wife of former President George Washington), in the
foothills of the Smoky Mountains. The cabin is at an elevation of 1000'...which means you don't have to drive
on any long, steep, treacherous, one lane roads to get to it. In fact, all the
roads from I-40 to the cabin (5 miles) are paved and plenty wide.
(View of road from
cabin)
Here are some current pictures of the cabin, courtesy of one of our great
guests (and great photographer), Laura Rood.
The cabin SLEEPS 4 and has been professionally decorated in a
THOMAS KINCAID MOTIF, including a
"Bridge of Faith" sun-catcher built into the wall that lights up with the morning sun.
(It's also pretty neat to turn the stairway light on at night and sit
outside by the front door.)
The cabin itself is nothing fancy, although the knotty pine walls and
hardwood floors add warmth and charm. It just feels like home. You will not see any expensive art work or antiques, and it doesn’t
have the newest, biggest plasma TV ever made. It's just a comfortable place to
relax, enjoy natural surroundings and the fabulous views.
You'll see a view from every room - including a beautiful
lake view from the kitchen window - and from everywhere on the
WRAP-AROUND DECK.
We do have COMFORTABLE, QUALITY FURNISHINGS and ALL
THE CONVENIENCES OF HOME. The 2 KING-SIZE BEDS have THICK,
TOP-OF-THE-LINE MATTRESSES and the 2 QUEEN-SIZE SOFA/SLEEPERS are big
and roomy without even opening them up, in case you just want to snuggle with
your honey in front of the STACKED-STONE FIREPLACE.
The 4 TV’s (living room, game room, and both bedrooms) have DIRECTV
SATELLITE PROGRAMMING, including LOCAL CHANNELS. There are also 2 DVD/VCR players and 2
STEREO SYSTEMS WITH CD CHANGERS. The game room is equipped with AIR
HOCKEY, FOOSBALL, and ELECTRONIC DARTS, and also a PLAYSTATION 2 (we have a few games, but you
might want to bring your favorites).
Don’t bring a ton of clothes. Use the WASHER/DRYER. We provide the laundry detergent, softener, and paper
products, in addition to all the linens and towels you will need for
your entire stay.
The kitchen has EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO COOK JUST ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WANT.
There is even a GARBAGE DISPOSAL, in addition to a big, SIDE-BY-SIDE
REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER with an ICE/WATER DISPENSER, state-of-the-art MICROWAVE,
STOVE/OVEN, and DISHWASHER (soap provided, of course). The
cookware is designed...hey, you know what? I can barely boil water. What do I know about
cookware? Why don't I let someone that knows what she's talking about
explain the details. This is in the words of one of our treasured guests:
Dear Goodwin Family,
Wow, your cabin has many beautiful upgrades - from the faucets to the
furniture, the curtain patterns, the comfortable beds w/beautiful
bedspreads, the quaint little telephones, the pots with the handles that
don't get hot, the Pfaltzgraff plates and mugs and the Thomas Kincaid
prints. I could go on and on...But I want to share why we picked your
cabin to stay in.
Well, Sonya told us we would get a beautiful view of the mountains & the
lake (she was so right)! And your air hockey & foosball were a plus for
our teens.
We are a family of 7 & Grandma made 8. We just celebrated our 24-year
anniversary and spent Christmas Eve/Day in your cabin & cooked up a
wonderful traditional Christmas turkey & honey-baked ham dinner. We
enjoyed Dollywood on Sunday, Gatlinburg on Monday, & are going skiing at
Maggie Valley tomorrow.
Our oldest son is 23 and we were so glad that he was able to spend this
holiday with us. Out 18 & 16 year-old daughters loved the deep red
sunsets. Our 12 year-old son was so happy that he had a TV he could hook
his game cube to. I think the 8 year-old wrote herself how much she loved
the hot tub. And Grandma mentioned sipping her coffee in the morning
watching the sunrise over the lake from her upstairs bedroom window while
saying her morning prayers. And as for my husband and I, we love Paradise
Landing so much that we bought property here almost 3 years ago now. We
are hoping next year will be the year we can start building our log home.
Until then, we want you to know that we all had a wonderful stay here in
your cabin and once again made some lasting memories up here in the
Smokies. It's nice to be able to slow down and listen to that still, small
voice. God's love is ever so present, especially up here in the Tennessee
mountains.
P.S. Thanks for the Christmas Tree!
Sincerely,
The Chizmadia Family
Thank you very much, Chizmadia family. It will be a pleasure having you as
neighbors someday!
Now, a word of CAUTION:
If your idea of a great Smoky Mountain vacation is non-stop action in Pigeon
Forge and Gatlinburg, then Serenity Hill Cabin is probably not for you. But if
you're looking forward to a relaxing vacation, and maybe spend a day or two at
PIGEON FORGE and GATLINBURG, and don't mind driving 45 minutes of
curvy, winding roads and seeing scenes like these along the way...
then Serenity Hill Cabin may be just the ticket! BRING YOUR BOAT, or
RENT A PONTOON OR JET SKIS and spend some time on the
water. Maybe spend a day at the KNOXVILLE ZOO. Catch a SATURDAY NIGHT
RACE AT BRISTOL. Spend another day EXPLORING CAVES and maybe go
WHITE-WATER RAFTING.
Cruise to ASHEVILLE and/or CHEROKEE(beautiful drive!). All these places are
within an hour (except for Asheville -- 1 hour 15 minutes, and Bristol -- 1 1/2
hours)
Or, DON'T GO ANYWHERE! Some of our guests have a hard time getting out to see
the sights. Look what our friends, the Pryors, wrote:
Greg & Belinda,
WOW! This place is so beautiful & relaxing. The sunsets, the mountains,
the lake and the beautiful cabin - What can I say but WOW! I know why the
people (Indians, etc.) thought God lived on the mountains. I'm starting to
believe that's true!
We were so relaxed & mesmerized by the entire place we had a rough time
leaving to see the sights. We'd get up early to leave and end up leaving
about 9:30 - 10:00!
Dave wondered what a storm would be like up here! And God with his
wonderful sense of humor sent us a good one! It rained so hard & wind was
blowing so fast, you could no longer see the lake! Then the electric went
out for a few hours. "Thanks Dave!" I hope the pictures turn out as
awesome as it actually is!
Anyway - You have a wonderful spot to enjoy life here. You should have a
lot of years of heaven in this place.
Carolyn & Dave
We've seen a couple of GREAT storms here ourselves! Luckily, we
never lost electricity. On a final note:
